I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.
Charlie Kirk on gun violence
The sheer volume of hagiography expressed of late on professional troll Charlie Kirk is mind-boggling. The man was an utter ghoul. He didn’t offer a passing thought of reflection or condolence for other victims of gun or political violence, and thus deserves a vanishingly small measure of same for his own victimhood of a problem he had no small part in creating. Indeed, he made it his personal mission to minimize the deaths of others in order to downplay the immense harm to society that 2A absolutism wreaks. He was objectionable in the extreme.
Why has he not been bailed out? By the way, if some amazing patriot out there in San Francisco or the Bay Area wants to really be a midterm hero, someone should go and bail this guy out…
Charlie Kirk on the Pelosi hammer assailant
Everyone, left or right, calling for the rhetoric to be “toned down” is misplacing their blame in a big way. Blame for the polarized political climate in the United States can be laid squarely at the feet of conservatives. They have wasted no opportunity to help turn political discourse into bloodsport, either for profit or power. C.f. Roger Ailes, Fox News, and the ascendancy of Trumpism. Kirk himself was not merely a cog in this machine, but an engine of its success. We are talking about a man who called for public executions and for children to watch them. A man who said we should have “taken care of” trans athletes the way we did in the 50s and 60s. Is the baker surprised when loaves of bread issue from the oven after the morning bake?
Why would I call him? I could call and say, ‘Hi, how you doing?’ Uh, the guy doesn’t have a clue. He’s a mess. I could be nice and call, but why waste time?
Donald Trump on calling Walz after the Hortman killings
So, the next time someone implores you to be compassionate or empathetic towards what happened, or calls you a leftist lunatic celebrating death, remind them of what can most charitably be described as indifference to the suffering of others by this victim and his cohort. Not once, not twice, but his raison d’être for over a decade.
If there is anything positive that can be said, here, it is that this “cost” of lives that 2A advocates are in favor of spending on other people’s dime was finally borne by someone who put their money where their mouth is. Although, I imagine Kirk would have preferred otherwise.
I can’t stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage.
Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk was a provocateur. Conservatives love to invoke personal responsibility when faced with the struggles of other people. It would appear that making a living as a race-baiter who tours college campuses for the express purpose of “owning” people in bad-faith debate is a vocation that carries significant risk, and he should take personal responsibility for the consequences wrought upon his family for that choice.
We should not celebrate what happened, but the answer to the question of how we got here is quite plain. Will we use this knowledge to correct course? As long as the powerful have a dog in the fight, I doubt it. To them, the volatility of discourse is very much a feature, and whether for the fame, the fortune, or the lulz, Charlie Kirk was more than happy to oblige.
Fully delivering irony to the grave, the regime is now trying to silence “hate speech,” which conservatives (including Kirk himself) have insisted for many years does not exist. Watching the ouroboros swallow its tail is quite a sight to behold. Many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk.
